Harrigoss
( Parabuteo unicinctus)
The harris hawk is one of the most popular falconry birds.

The harris needs plenty of manning, but once manned
and trained they will always catch quarry for the falconer.
The harris hawk will catch rabbit whether it be bolted
or self hunting, and some times the odd pheasant
Once your bird is in yarak state (meaning a bird that is in perfect condition to fly and hunt well) they are a joy to hunt.
The harris hawk is happy to follow on, or fly off the fist.

An alternative that they adapt to quite well is night hawking with a lamp, that can be great fun!!! very little training and can have some great results.

They show themselves to be totally fearless and aim to catch their quarry no matter what's in their path.

The harris hawk is a fantastic bird of prey for the weekend falconer and the totally commited alike, often referred to as the weekend bird, it shows their versatility to the point of not having to hunt every day to still reap the rewards.

Our breeding stock of harris hawks are lovely large dark birds, and again our young are guaranteed totally parent reared straight from the nest.
